During the Elemi Migration to Tharador during the Second Era, many were brought to Tharador’s eastern coasts by Water and Air Elemi who used the beasts as mounts or draught beasts, pulling boats and barges.

Though the creatures are anything but friendly, requiring special taming to lull them into a means of placing a harness or saddle over them.

Woe to anyone who encounters a hungry one of these creatures in the open ocean.
